Brax's Softball Game

Thomas and I went to Brax's softball game this week. It was really fun to go, and there was a lot of grass and big sandpile for Thomas to play in. He did have to be told several times that the bats weren't to play with, and that he shouldn't throw his ball at other people, but I suppose that's just being two. He loved watching Brax, and cheered lots including yelling "Daddy Did It! Daddy Did It!" and jumping up and down after Brax batted and made an out! Brax's team won by one run and are still undefeated!

Boots

The other day I let Thomas play in the driveway with the hose, just for fun. It was so hot outside, so I turned in on as low as it would go and let him make our dirt piles into mud puddles. Now, because our yard does have lots of dirt/mud we have very specific outside shoes. I let Thomas pick which shoes he wanted to use that day, and he definitely wanted to wear his boots. Which is fine with me. In my opinion it's hard to beat boots!!!

Big Shoes to Fill

Brax is such a good dad! He plays with Thomas whenever he possibly can. He reads to him. He teaches him lots of things, especially lots about sports! Thomas loves being with him and wants to be like him! Including putting on his shoes and walking around in them. And hey, if you're going to choose a pair of shoes to walk around in, why not comfy Crocs?

Allen and Areta

We're so excited that our friends Allen and Areta are about to be our neighbors (two hours south neighbors). They were here this week to close on their house and spent the night with us on their way into the state. Thomas LOVED Allen, and felt a little unsure about Areta at first, but did eventually hug her when bribed by her. :) We're so glad we got to hang out with them!

Laundry Basket Nap

The other day I was doing laundry and Thomas was "helping" me in the laundry room. He then announced that he wanted to take a nap. He set the laundry basket on the floor, put a pillow in it, went and found and blanket and got in. I have no idea why, but it was apparently fun.

Thomas and Kati Ann

Our friends Jared, Bobi Ann and Kati Ann came for lunch last weekend. Thomas worked on sharing his toys with Kati Ann. He had a few moments of frustration, but mostly felt fine about it. They had fun rolling the ball back and forth. We've been so blessed to have neighbors with kids on this street and our last one!

Playing in the Rain

I love the rain. Rainy days are my favorite (although it's not quite as fun when you're in charge of a toddler). Today was a perfect day to be out in the rain. It was nice and warm and not storming at all. I got Thomas all geared up. His raincoat (which is from the country where it never stops raining) was a little big, but rolling up the sleeves worked great. And his boots were too big also, but fit fine with three pairs of socks.

Play Doh

I made Play Doh for Thomas this morning. He played with it for forty-five minutes. That is a REALLY long time for him to play with anything!

Two Years

Thomas is two. He...
...is 34.5 inches tall.
...eats mainly dried fruit, fruit strips, crackers and CHEESE!
...weighs 25.6 pounds.
...loves to talk to Papa, Mimi, Katey, Buckley, Pops, Gram, Carlos, Sally and Joel on the telephone, whether it's real or fake.
...wears size 6 shoes.
...would rather sit at his little table than in his high chair.
...sleeps from 7pm to 7am and takes a 1.5-2 hour afternoon nap.
...loves to play with trains, balls, tools and drums.
...would rather go to Lowe's than anywhere else.
...runs to the door yelling, "Daddy! Daddy!" when Brax's car pulls up.
...sleeps sucking his two fingers and hugging his blanket which he calls his "Leelee."
...can say lots of words, and talks constantly while he's awake.
...will watch ANYTHING we let him on TV.
...loves to read books, particularly Froggy books and Richard Scarry's Cars, Trains and Things that Go.

Happy Mother's Day

On Mother's Day afternoon Thomas, Brax and Papa with the help of the Expedition dug out all of Mimi's shrubs in the front of the house. Thomas picked up lots of sticks and had so much fun helping. But let's face it, he's two. Sometimes you just have to run and jump too!

Fishing

Thomas got to go fishing on Pine Lake with Papa and Daddy for the first time. He had a lot of fun (although the first time did result in meltdown because he wanted to do it himself) and helped Daddy catch two fish!
