Nature Trail

This afternoon was ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!! Sunny and high of 60. Just about perfect! So, we tried out a nature trail near our house. It was so so pretty! The kids had fun (although Mae kept saying, "I don't like the woods!" "I want to be out of the woods!") There was a 1.5 mile trail around a lake and the kids both made it really well. It's really close to our house, so I'm sure we'll be going again soon!


This picture is blurry, but I just had to include it. If Mae wasn't on Brax's shoulders she was making sure she was in front of Thomas. That girl is SOMETHING!

 

 

 

 

Team Pictures/Trophy

Thomas finished up his soccer season and loved it! We took team pictures the other day before his party and he got his "second real trophy!" Ah, the little things in life...

 

Pumpkins

We carved our pumpkins last week. Thomas has been begging since we picked his. His is a face with many eyes and Mae's is a crown. I didn't get a picture of him by his pumpkin, but there's Mae.

If I'm just really honest, carving pumpkins isn't that much fun with kids who can't cut yet. Just a lot of pumpkin guts. But, it will get more fun, right? They sure do love the finished product!!

 

Girls Weekend

Last weekend I went to Orlando and met Sally, Becky and Stefanie. It was to celebrate Becky's (slightly important)birthday, but also just to enjoy time together. We certainly did that! We ate, slept, shopped, watched movies, laughed and relaxed by the pool. It was pretty much all that a girls weekend should be!

 

 

Meanwhile, back at the ranch Brax was holding down the fort! Mae went to PaPa and MiMi's and Brax worked from home Thursday and Friday to he could take/pick up Thomas from school. Then he and Thomas went bowling Friday night and headed to MiMi and PaPa's on Saturday morning. Just in time to meet a HUGE pile of dirt. They were getting some major yardwork done so the kids got to play in A LOT of dirt!! And ride in a Bobcat! And visit with Aunt Katey. It was pretty much a win.win.win.

 

Daddy/Daughter Date

A few weeks ago Chick-Fil-A hosted a Daddy/Daughter date. Brax took Mae and she felt so special going on a date with Daddy! I remember my Dad taking me on dates and how special I always felt!! I hope they do it for a lot more years!

 

 

 

 

Funnies

Kim: Hey guys, look at that helicopter landing on the hospital.
Thomas: How do people get out if they're really sick and can't walk?
Kim: They put them on a stretcher.
Thomas: Do they have to nail them to it?

Kim: God is with you, and Jesus is with you and there are angels watching over you.
Mae: And Cinderella is with me too!

Kim: These book are late, so we need to take them back today.
Thomas: Are they overdoom?

First Real Field Trip

Yesterday, I went with Thomas's class and spent a VERY rainy morning in the Pumpkin Patch. The kids did all the fun things and got to pick out pumpkins even though it was raining. I felt bad that they were all going back to school damp, but they seemed ok!

 

Disney!

As most of you know we spent Fall Break in Orlando taking our kids to DisneyWorld for the first time. We had a great time as a family being on our first real vacation, all four of us!

Mae liked DisneyWorld. She liked the rides, shows and LOVED the characters. She however did NOT like the lines. Or waiting. Or the lines. Or waiting. :) She and I had some really sweet times together while the boys rode the BIG rides, and also some moments like the one where I texted Brax from the bathroom (pretty sure I went to every.single.one.) with "I'm done. We need to go."

Thomas LOVED the shows, liked the characters and LOVED LOVED LOVED the rides!! I think he rode Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain about 20 times each and would have been happy to keep going. And I know Brax Watkins was in his element with someone to ride rides with him (since his wife doesn't do roller coasters. at all!!)

It really was a great vacation. Our condo had lots of space and was in a great location. We got to eat some seafood and do some shopping. And spent many sweet hours together as a family!!

Visit from the Acostas

On their way to the beach Carlos, Sally,Joaquin and Mateo stopped by for a couple nights. We got to hang out all day Saturday together and had a great time! The kids had fun jumping on the trampoline, playing at the Chick-Fil-A playground, playing in the yard and of course playing the Wii together. The adults all watched the Alabama/Arkansas game very civilly together and just had fun hanging out. We loved getting to host them in our house!

Homemade Fruit Snacks

A few weeks ago I was inpsired by this blog to make homemade fruit snacks. I thought it would be a fun, short project I could do with the kids. Melissa claimed it was easy, and I'm all about easy. And it was! Melissa said they were really good, and honestly, ours weren't the best. I'm not sure if I cooked the mix too long or what, but they were CHEWY!!!!! However, the kids had fun, and of course liked them! Maybe you can try it and they'll turn out better than ours.

 

 

 

 

Game Day

A few weeks ago we were all ready for football, and the weather was gorgeous, so Brax and the kids went out into the front to play catch. Thomas loves throwing AND catching the football. And Mae just wants to be in on the action. And they both LOVE spending time with Daddy!
