Two Years

It was at about this time last year that we had Thomas' one-year pictures taken. If we still lived in Georgia I might have gotten Valerie to take his two-year pictures. I don't really know anyone here yet to take pictures, and I really do love outside ones the best. Well, we have this adorable outfit that Mimi made that Thomas hasn't been able to wear for anything. And I was afraid he was going to outgrow it before he had the chance. And we have a couple great spots in our yard to take pictures. So, I bribed him when he got up from his nap and told him he could play in the backyard instead of the front (which we don't do very often) if he let me take some pictures. He didn't last long, but I did get a few fun ones.

Children's Fountain

Yesterday we went to Bridge Street Town Center and met Brax at Maggie Moo's for ice cream. Brax is doing Weight Watchers through his office and has lost 35 pounds. As a reward he thought Maggie Moo's would be a good place to go. It WAS! I had Thomas in his swim suit and after we met Brax, Thomas and I headed back to the children's fountain. He had fun playing in the fountain, although he was very unsure at first. For the first 25 minutes or so he ran around the fountain and dodged all the water. (Whatever floats your boat!) Then he got wet and thought it was really fun!

Also, while we were at the fountain I ran into three ladies that I worked with in Birmingham. They were here for work, and just happened to be at Bridge Street for dinner. It was really fun to see them and chat for a few minutes! I can't believe I stopped working there almost three years ago. Time FLIES!

An Evening with the Stars

Last Sunday night Brax and I took Thomas to a minor league baseball game. It was at 5:05, so it worked well for us to stay for a couple of hours and then go home to put Thomas to bed. We got to stay through six innings. Thomas thought it was fun to be there, although he didn't really care about the game. He did like the ice cream and the nachos. And he got to meet Homer the mascot and give him a big hug.

*Just a side note. I do not always feed my child ice cream. We actually eat very healthy food at home, but since I very seldom blog about normal meals you might not know that. It seems like the special events that we go to, where we do eat ice cream and nachos are the ones I do blog about. Oh well...

A Date Night and The Strawberry Patch

A few weeks ago Papa and Mimi kept Thomas overnight so Brax and I could have a really fun date. We went to dinner at a really interesting Italian restaurant and then went to see Prince Caspian at the Monoco Theatre here in town. We even paid extra and sat in the "VIP" area where you can order appetizers and sit in leather recliners. It was delightful.

Meanwhile, while we were sleeping in Papa and Mimi took Thomas to the strawberry patch to pick strawberries. He had so much fun picking until he ate one, and then apparently the picking was over and he just ate!!! He got strawberry juice all over his face and clothes (which came out no problem) and had a GREAT time!

Lulu and Ditard

Thomas got LOTS of Lulu and Ditard (Richard) time when we were in Fayetteville! Grandma Lu was extremely generous with her time and energy and flew to Memphis to meet Thomas and me on the way to Fayetteville and ride the rest of the way with us. We spent the weekend at their house for a family reunion and then we met them again at Chick Fil A later in the week. Thomas LOVES them, and loves seeing them and talking about them! Since we've been home I've shown Thomas pictures of Lulu to which he has responded "More Lulu!"

Father's Day

We had a delightful Father's Day as a family. Brax had a free round of golf on a short course so we took Thomas who though it was so fun to run up to the tee box and hit his ball and then help Daddy "look" for his ball on the green. Our only issue with our little golfer is that it seems he is left handed (at least for the time being) so his great right handed clubs make it a little harder to hit the ball. After golf we finished off the day with a nice cool treat at Brusters.

Another little note: We were watching the US Open before we left for the golf course and Thomas noticed that a lot of the players had on hats. He asked for his hat and then wanted to make sure Daddy had a hat too.

Catching and Hitting

Thomas has loved throwing balls for about a year now (if not longer). He has very recently decided that catching and hitting are just as fun. He and I spend MANY hours a day with me throwing the ball for him to hit or catch. It's even more fun when Daddy or Mimi or Papa or Katey are there to play too. Most of these pictures are from our Father's Day celebration with the Watkins. Thomas hit and hit and hit and hit and then Papa got a pvc pipe and stuck it in the ground for a tee. I do believe our son will play some form of ball for a LONG time!

Fayetteville

Thomas and I made a ten day trip to Arkansas recently (which turned into an 11 day trip because of car issues!) to visit Gram and Pops. We got to see lots of fun people, Thomas spent many hours on the deck, and we even got to see Uncle Joel and meet his friend Jordy (who some call Juno). It was a wonderful trip!

Joan and Louie

We also got to visit our adopted Fayetteville grandparents while Thomas and I were in Fayetteville. Joan and her dad Louie live next door to my parents. Thomas loved hanging out on the front porch and pointed to "Doan's House" everytime we drove by. Papa Louie couldn't come out because he wasn't feeling the greatest, but made a big impression on Thomas by just coming to the door. He's asked about Pop Pop Leevee since we saw him.
