Craig's List Steals

A while back I found a playhouse on the side of the road (yes, I get things there). It was missing the roof and one of the sides, but it was fun for Thomas for a little while. I tried to bring it from the side of our house to the backyard the other day and it fell apart. So, I started looking online. If you haven't look recently they're EXPENSIVE!! So I started looking on www.craigslist.com. I found one for $1. Can't beat that! Well actually you can. Turns out this mom (who actually knew Brax's name from growing up) just really wanted to get rid of her playhouse AND her picnic table. So we got them (well actually PaPa and MiMi went and picked them up)-for free!! We cleaned them up this afternoon and set them up in the backyard!

 

 

 

 

Thomas's Fourth Birthday

Thomas had a great birthday party at the park. He wanted Cars cupcakes and was so excited to have them and Cars plates. His friends were there, and he had an all around great time! The only issue was that the cheapo grill went a little slow! Here's a video of pictures. (Please note that in the picture of Bobi Ann and Erica, Bobi Ann doesn't look pregnant AT ALL and she delivered Kie two days later!)

MORE Friends!!!

To finish up possibly the busiest weekend ever, our friends David, Mary Faith, Drew and Lydia stopped by on their way home on Sunday. They ate lunch with us (yes-all 8 of us fit in the dining room) and the kids got to play. Thomas and Drew are only four months a part and are both such boys! It's always such a treat to see this sweet family!!!

 

The A-Day Game

To continue in the birthday weekend festivities the four of us went down to Tuscaloosa for the Alabama Football Spring Game to meet MiMi, Papa and Katey (and 91,307 other people). It was HOT! Everyone had a great time-although my game was spent chasing Mae around the stadium! The game took a decidedly unfortunate turn when it was announced that a train had broken down on the tracks blocking four intersections. While the kids and I rode back to the parking deck where PaPa
and MiMi had parked, Katey and Brax walked for AN HOUR AND A HALF to get around the train and get to our car. Did I mention it was 85 degrees? Yikes! We ended up getting home slightly later than we had planned, but it was still a fun time in Tuscaloosa. And Thomas discovered binoculars!

 

 

 

Thomas's 4th Birthday

Gosh, four years go by fast. I know it's such a cliche, but still, it's true! Thomas had a most fun birthday!! His very first words out of his mouth in the morning when he came into our room were:
Thomas: Am I four, Mom?
Kim: Yes!
Thomas: Why am I not big???

We had to run a few errands in the morning (including picking up some cookies with MiMi graciously made for something I had volunteered for). After the kid's naps Becky and Shelley (I did not get ONE picture of Shelley) arrived (for a pit stop on their way to the beach). We spent the entire afternoon playing in the front yard. Actually Becky and Shelley played and I supervised! Then when Brax got home Thomas got to open his presents.

 

Thomas's request was a chocolate cake with chocolate icing. He helped me make a bundt cake, and we added some sprinkles for good measure. He and Mae (and let's face it, the adults too!) loved it. After he and Mae went to bed we got to enjoy a great adult dinner before crashing ourselves.

 

P.S. The azaleas bloomed just in time for Thomas's birthday. I happen to think it's foreshadowing for future Aprils spent playing here.

 

Funnies and A Short Video

Thomas praying: Jesus, thank you for this gorgeous day. I loved playing outside. Thank you for this gorgeous day-although sometimes the sun really made my eyes hurt.

About 15 minutes into a 30 minute drive.
Thomas: I need to go potty.
Brax: I think you can hold it till you get home.
Thomas: I can't!
Kim: Thomas, we'll be there in a few minutes. You'll be fine. (Aren't we caring parents?)
Thomas (about five minute later): Is it ok if I let go now?


MiMi: Mae, no no. Please don't do that.
Thomas: No, MiMi. You're supposed to say, "No ma'am!."

Thomas: Mom, this summer I really think I'm going to need a Snorgle and Gobbles for the pool.

If you follow me on Twitter or are my friend on Facebook you'll know that I'm obsessed with the show Foyle's War. Apparently I talk about it more than I thought because the other day Thomas held up a deck of cards and said, "Mom, we could play Foyle's War with these!"


Brax and I are thrilled that Thomas is starting to learn the Catachism in Sunday School. Gram took this on her super cool iPhone when she was here. How tech savvy is she?!?!

The Masters

We got to go to Augusta National again for the Masters this week and it was wonderful! Last time we went I was barely pregnant with Mae, and therefore felt yuck! This time I felt much better and we had a great time!

Highlights:
Getting to see golfers up close that we normally only see on T.V.

 

Spending a day and a half of quality time with our friends Brent and Leigh that we hardly ever get to see!

 

The amazing gorgeousness of Augusta National!

 

Stewart Cink's (one of two people that I really wanted to see) ball going right over our head so that he had to come hit it and we got to stand right by him!

 

Lowlights: It was HOT!!!!!!!!!! When we left at about 3:30 it was 93 degrees!
POLLEN!!!! It was on everything, and as you looked around while the wind blew you could just see clouds of it! Still totally worth it!

Easter

We stayed here for Easter this year instead of going to Birmingham. I sang on Sunday morning, and we're taking the new members class at our church, so we really couldn't miss. Brax did a GREAT job of getting the kids ready and to church by himself. After church we went to lunch with PaPa, MiMi and Aunt Katey. It was delicious (turkey and dressing) as always. The boys fished in the afternoon and the girls enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing couple of hours on the back deck. We finished off the day with a fish fry!

 

 

 

 

Hoppy Birthday Hams!

 

On Saturday we went to a birthday party for our friends Luke, Abby and Jack. These kids aren't your normal "share-a-party" kind of siblings. Their birthdays aren't close together-they're the same day! That's right! Three kids, ALL with the same birthday! So, we celebrated Luke turning 3 and Abby and Jack turning 1 one with an Easter egg hunt birthday party. It was really fun. Thomas had so much fun running around with Luke and the other boys, and Mae loved walking around the whole time too. They both enjoyed hunting for eggs!

Mae's First Haircut

Mae got her first haircut last week. It was starting to look a little scraggly(as you can tell from the picture where MiMi is holding her), and it needed to be evened up. She reacted about the way that I would have expected her to with someone coming towards her with scissors. She wasn't a huge fan, but it turned out well anyway!
