I had to spank Thomas the other day:

Thomas: Mommy! Your spanking wasn’t that bad.
Kim: Really?
Thomas: You didn’t spank to hard.
Kim: Do you think I need to spank harder next time.
Thomas: No. No. No. No. The little ones are better, sometimes.

Eleven Months

Each month it gets increasingly harder to take a pictures of Mae. She is ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!

She's still just such a love. This is a really fun age! She's a very fast crawler (with her special one legged crawl). She cruises regularly, and stands alone every once and while, but shows no interest in walking alone. Fine by me!

She'll eat anything we give her, and much prefers finger food to baby food. I can't believe I only have one more month of giving her bottles. That's one of the only times she's still enough to snuggle!

She goes to bed between 7 and 7:30 and wakes up between 6:30 and 7. She takes two naps a day, and is a good sleeper!

The only word that she's saying consistently is "whoa" which she says whenever she falls down or throw something off of her high chair. She may have said "Dada" yesterday, and actually meant Brax, but it seems like she's still just really making noises that don't really mean anything. She talks lots though. And has started a less cute habit, screaming. Just for fun. (Turns out it's only fun for her.)

She's tough! She falls a lot and it doesn't phase her. She gets tackled and pushed and pulled, and for the most part she's fine. I guess that's part of being the second child.

Jack-O-Lantern

After we had all warmed up from the Pumpkin Patch, Brax, Thomas and I carved Thomas's first Jack-O-Lantern. As any boy would, he LOVED pulling out the slimy insides! We even had roasted pumpkin seeds!

 

Pumpkin Patch

This year we went to Lyons Family Farms again as our Pumpkin Patch of choice. It was VERY cold!! It was rainy when we got there, but thankfully it stopped after we had been there a short time! We had a fun time even with the cold, and managed to come home with some good pumpkins!!

Bama vs. Old Miss

 

Today we were at Papa and MiMi's house to watch the Bama/Old Miss game. Bama won (we're undefeated if you didn't know) and the kids had a great time. Mae LOVES the swing in the doorway and Thomas things pushing her is really fun!

MISSchievous!

Already, my sweet baby girl is about ten times more mischievious than my sweet boy! I can't even turn my head before she's climbing up the stairs, eating helicopter parts, etc. The other day I was finishing up a story with Thomas and I saw Mae crawl into the kitchen. About 20 seconds later I heard a small crash, so of course ran in there. We have a low shelf in the pantry (which should have been closed) onto which I had set an apple pie. Mae had pulled off the pie and had already stuck her hand in to grab a big piece. I'm glad it was that and not something worse.

(And yes, I am aware that she looks like a vagabond. There was a reason that she was wearing no clothes, although at this point I don't remember it.)

 

 

Funnies

The other day Thomas requested "The Story with the mean man," which I happened to know was Peter Rabbit. We started reading and got about 1/3 into it, to the part where Mr. MacGregor starts chasing Peter. Thomas immediately covered his ears.
Kim: What's wrong?
Thomas: I don't want to hear about the mean man.
Kim: Do you want me to stop reading?
Thomas: No.
So, I continued to read, and Thomas just sat there with his hands over his ears.

Kim: Thomas, Lulu called. She said she's at the beach and she wishes you and Mae were there to dig in the sand with shovel and a bucket.
Thomas: Does she have my shovel? I can't find it.

Georgia

After visiting the Acostas we headed down to Georgia to visit our friends David, Mary Faith, Drew and Lydia. It was great for the boys to get to play together, although I will say that by the time we got there Thomas and Mae were already really tired out. (Would not put two trips together like that again if I could help it.) We still managed to hit up Taste of Newnan for a very short while and had a GREAT thing called a BBQ Sundae. I'll be trying that out at home! I actually cut our visit short and we left after just a day. We were all exhausted, and our friends were gracious enough to understand! Travelling with kids is tough enough, but so much travel in one month is even harder AND to do this trip alone, I survived, but it was EXHAUSTING!!

 

South Carolina

The kids and I went to South Carolina at the beginning of last week. It was GREAT to see Sally and Carlos, and of course amazing to meet Joaquin for the first time. He is ADORABLE, and I am a smitten aunt. He's so smiley and I love his little dimples and the way he giggles and pretty much everything and nothing!!

The weather was incredible, and I actually wished that I had brought more fall clothes for my kids. Oh well. They seemed to be just fine. We're excited that we hopefully get the see the Acostas again in just a few weeks! :)
