Valentine's Day
We had a very low key Valentine's Day. Brax and I aren't huge Valentine's people anyway, but it is fun with the kids. Thomas had a party at school, and Mae had a little party with her friends Allie and Padyn. There were many cookies, cupcakes and pieces of candy consumed by children and adults alike!
Tatoos
Thomas gave Toy Story Valentines that had tatoos in them. (I figured there would be enough candy!) The other day, the kids were begging to put some on, so I let them each do one on each hand. Cheap thrills.
Great Visit!
Since Monday was President's Day Thomas didn't have school. So our friends Jenn, Isabel and William came down from Nashville and spent the day with us! There were some frenzied moments, and some great playing moments! Jenn and I even got to enjoy some normal converstaion while Mae and Will took naps, and Thomas and Izzy watched Toy Story 3. These are such sweet friends, and we always enjoy a visit with them!
Is This Really February?
We've been enjoying quite a streak of unseasonably warm weather. Most of our afternoons have been in the 60's and low 70's. It's really hard to stay inside when it's like that!
We've been playing in our yard lots! That even includes helping Daddy rake up leaves! And Saturday, Brax and I got about 1/3 of our garage cleaned up. It was a GREAT feeling!!!
When it's nice outside, Thomas's class spends the last 15 minutes of the day outside. It's been so great we have been staying for awhile longer and letting the kids play with some of their friends from church that also go to school there. The kids get to burn off some energy, and the mom's get to chat, in between refereeing.

Hello Again!
I don't know if you've noticed, but I haven't been blogging as much lately. I remember back when I just had Thomas, and when Mae was a baby, my days seemed to have a little more down time. Maybe because I was tied to home more. But, we've been really busy, doing normal life. And I feel like there are always things that need to be done, so I feel a little guilty blogging because it's actually fun. For instance, right now I need to be reading chapers for my small group tonight, doing my Bible study lesson for tomorrow, and ironing the ENORMOUS pile of clothes that need to dropped off at the consignment sale this weekend. Not to mention, empty and fill the dishwasher. So.many.dishes.
Plus, one of my New Years Resolutions (I decided not to publish those anymore. Not so fond of the accountability that I feel if people actually know.) was to read more, and I'm happy to report that I've been filling some of my evening free time with that! I've already ready some fun books this year! Some old, and some new.
But, on to a picture and some funnies:
Mae has been exerting her indepence A LOT lately! I had to take a picture of her face after all her bumps and brusies that seem to accompany indepence, at least in her case. These were all achieved at different times!
We've had the allergy crud here, do to our AMAZING weather. Thomas came into our room the other morning and said: Mom, one of my noses isn't working.
Thomas: Mom, what is that out there?
Kim: I can't really see it.
Thomas: Maybe I should ask PaPa. I think he has really good glasses.
My parents's almost 106-year-old neighbor was in the hospital recently and we were praying for him with Thomas. Thomas asked how old 106 was, and Brax said: He's probably the oldest person you'll know.
Thomas: Older than GRAM!?!
Thomas (under his breath at the table): Like a good neighbor, and a hot tub.
Kim: What did you just say?!
Thomas: Well on that commercial they say "Like a good neighbor and hot tub" and one just appears. It didn't work for me. Maybe if you do it it will work for you.
*I feel like I should say that Thomas watched almost NO tv with commericals, but man, they're all over ESPN when he watches sports with Brax...
Kim: Thomas, what is Mae doing?
Thomas: She's just staring at the tv. What does stare mean?
A few Sundays ago Thomas appeared dressed in blue and white plaid shorts, an alien tshirt and red socks. I told him we'd have to change since it was Sunday and he said: That's fine. Can I keep on my red socks so they know I'm for Bama?
Kim: Mae, do you want to color with your new markers and listen to some jazz?
Mae: Yes, please! Jazz would be great. It will be just what we need.

Brand Villages San Diego Trip
Last week, Brax and I got to meet up with my parents, Bart & Gena, and Wade & Marlene in San Diego. It was a whirlwind trip, but SO fun! Some of the highlights:
-Staying at The Lofts on 5th Avenue which are part of the Hilton in the Gaslamp Quarter
-Eating at Croce's Restaurant and Jazz Bar
-Trying fish tacos for the first time at the Tin Fish (which were delicious)
-Leisurely walking and shopping (sans children!)
-Lunch at the Hotel Del Coronado
-Our two hour private boat tour in the San Diego Bay. We got to see Sea Lions and a battleship. Probably the most exciting thing was seeing a submarine above water. It's apprently very rare! Our host and captain were very nice, and Brax and my Dad even got to drive the boat.
-Watching the sunset from a cliff in La Jolla (my personal favorite part of the trip.)We got to watch surfers and see seals at The Children's Beach.
-Eating at In-N-Out Burger.
The craziest part was that Brax and my return flight was delayed an hour, and we only had a 35-minute layover in Pheonix. I had visions of revisiting the place where we stayed on our honeymoon while we were stuck in Pheonix, but Southwest held the plane for us (and a few other passengers), so we made it home just a few minutes after we were originally scheduled.

Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch
Thomas was having the time of his life, fishing in PaPa's friend's boathouse. Apparently, Thomas caught 40-60 fish, depending on who you ask. He had a GREAT time, and has since eaten those fish twice (wonder of wonder, miracle of miracles!).

Brax: Mae, do you know when your birthday is?
Mae: Cake.
Thomas's version of his memory verse: Do everything without arguing and complaining so that you may become blameless and pure, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.
Kim, pulling into Sonic, where we love the tator tots: Mae, are you going to have a grilled cheese?
Mae: And polka dots.
I bought the generic vitamins for Thomas this time, thinking he wouldn't know the difference. Turns out he does. We've told him if he finishes the bottle we'll buy the good ones again. The other day I gave it to him and he said, "When I eat these I wish I didn't have a tongue."
Thomas: I know what we could do with my money. We could give it to the [airline] people so we could get to London.
We were singing a song in the car. The words are: Jesus reigns. I'll join the thunder, and tell of the wonder. Jesus reigns.
Thomas: I don't want to be with the thunder and lightning.
Kim: Well, that doesn't actually mean you'll be with them. It just means you, and the thunder and lightning will be telling about how awesome Jesus is.
Thomas: Does the rain in the song not tell about Jesus too?
